Primary duty is to prepare or directly supervise reports issued by Mappa that go beyond the tabulation of test data by drawing conclusions on the engineering properties of materials (soil, concrete, and asphalt). Other duties include bidding work, reviewing test procedures, developing concrete mix designs, and most other aspects of day to day activities for Mappa Inc. Performed Special Inspections on projects around Fairbanks: New Fred Meyers, Vehicle Maintenance Facility (Ft. Wainwright), Joint Security (Eielson), Alert Holding (Ft. Wainwright), and Lithia Motors building. Special Inspection duties include concrete, reinforcing steel, soils, and masonry.

Kiewit Pacific, West Coast
Started with Kiewit Pacific in 1999 as Quality Control Manager at Los Angeles International Airport. Responsible for implementing quality control plan for taxiway concrete paving project involving high-early and conventional concrete. Assistant QC Manager on RCC dam project in San Diego, CA. Reviewed plans with project owners and in instances where plans were insufficient, helped to develop alternative plans and specifications for work to be performed. Also worked as estimator at regional office and field supervisor on project on West Coast of United States. Projects include: 1999 – LAX Taxiways; 2000 – estimator Vancouver, WA; 2001 – I-5 asphalt repave project Bakersfield, CA; 2002 – RCC Dam San Diego, CA; 2003 – Asphalt Treated Base overlay Kodiak, AK.

Responsibilities included supervising lab and field technicians who perform day to day field asphalt, concrete and soils testing. Other duties include laboratory and field tests of soils, aggregates, asphalt, and concrete, bidding new projects, and updating field and lab equipment calibrations.
Chris has been involved in most of the major construction projects on Fort Wainwright and Eielson Air Force Base and has performed quality control testing on State of Alaska Highway projects. In addition, Chris was in charge of the quality control testing on the Fort Knox Gold Project during 1995 & 1996 and the Nenana Airport Project during 2003. During 2004, Chris was responsible for quality control on various Eielson Airforce Base projects.
Special Inspection duties include soils, reinforcing steel, concrete, and fireproofing. Projects include Mission Support Training Facility Ft. Wainwright, Radar Upgrade Clear AFB, Joint Mobility Complex Eielson, Ft. Knox Fairbanks, Regal Cinema Fairbanks.

Mack is the owner – general manager of Mappa. Mack started this Company in Fairbanks in 1981. Mappa has been involved in the testing and special inspections of the Healy Clean Coal Power Plant, Fairbanks Courthouse, Doyon Plaza, Marriot Hotel, Fort Knox Gold Mine, Fairbanks Police Station, Eielson AFB Concrete Runway(s), Clear AFS Radar Upgrade, Phillips Petroleum Alpine Bridges, Office Max, Home Depot and other Military Projects over the years.
1976 – 1981
Alaska Testlab – Anchorage
Responsibilities include supervising the engineering laboratory and field drilling operations. Mack was also involved in the many remote field operations in the Yukon-Kuskokwim area, the Valdez Port construction, offshore soils investigations in the Cook inlet, and many of the downtown building projects . Mack was also a member of the Mayor’s Geotechnical Advisory Commission, providing advise on permafrost and earthquake problems in the Anchorage bowl.

Mack was a owner-partner and general manager of this Company. Duties included the startup of a new engineering office-laboratory in Anchorage. Mack was involved with the soils investigations and development of many of the new subdivisions and office buildings built in Anchorage during the pipeline years.

Arctic Alaska Testing Lab – Fairbanks
Duties included laboratory and field tests of soils, aggregates, asphalt, and concrete. Mack also was responsible for logging soil test borings , field sampling of soils, and operating drill rigs and grout pumps. Mack was involved in the preliminary Trans-Alaska pipeline permafrost investigations and the relocation of the city of Valdez after the 1964 earthquake. Mack was involved in many of the Fort Greely and Eielson AFB Projects during the 1960’s.

In 2000, Brendan was in charge of the field lab on the Repair Runway Project and the Type III Fuel Hydrant KC 135 Parking Apron (both projects located on Eielson AFB, Alaska). During 2002, Brendan was in charge of materials testing for Mappa on various projects at Ft. Greely : Missile Defense Project and the Airfield Repair Project. His duties included coordinating and reporting the concrete, soils and asphalt quality control testing between the various Contractors and the Corps of Engineers inspectors. In 2003 Brendan was in charge of the Quality Control for the Unalaska/Sand Point airport paving projects. During 2004 Brendan was Mappa’s Delta Area Lab Manager in charge of several projects on Ft. Greely and the City of Delta.

Brendan was the laboratory supervisor for Kiewit Construction Company on the Los Angeles Int’l Airport project. Job duties included laboratory and field quality control testing of hot mix asphalt, flexural concrete and soils.

Alaska Testlab – Anchorage, Alaska
Job duties included routine laboratory and field quality control testing of hot mix asphalt, concrete and soils. Field work included remote area testing on the Indian Mountain Tank Farm in bush Alaska.
1993 to 1997
Mappa Testlab – Fairbanks, Alaska
Responsibilities included daily laboratory and field test services along with field test management on larger projects. Brendan was responsible for the quality control testing of concrete pavement placement on the main runway and taxiways at Eielson AFB during 1993 and again in 2000.
